Spring Cleanup Days

Spring Cleanup Days are city wide collection days organized for residents to dispose of large household items. Think of all the things you would like to get rid of during an intense spring cleaning...that is what Spring Cleanup Days are for.


The following list is compiled by spring cleanup date.

Your spring clean up day will be based upon your collection day of the week.
If collection day is Monday, your spring cleanup day is 3-24-2008.
Monday March 24, 2008
If collection day is Tuesday, your spring cleanup day is 3-25-08.
Tuesday March 25, 2008
If collection day is Wednesday, your spring cleanup day is 3-27-08.
Thursday March 27, 2008
If collection day is Thursday, your spring cleanup day is 3-31-2008.
Monday March 31, 2008
If collection day is Friday, your spring cleanup day is 04-02-2008.
Wednesday April 2, 2008
Johnston May 12th and May 13th, 2008


Please note: that there is a possibility the dates of collection may change due to the volume of debris collected on a particular route. For example, if Monday's route has high volumes to collect, Tuesday's route may be delayed by one day or only part of Tuesday's route will be collected with the remainder being collected on Wednesday. Solid waste will be collected on your regularly scheduled date during spring clean up.

The following items will NOT be accepted:

  • Tires
  • Vehicles and/or major auto parts.
  • Buildings, major building parts, or large piles of building material.
  • Concrete chunks (ALL SIZES).
  • Asphalt shingles over 65 lbs. in total weight.
  • Banned substances such as
    • lead
    • acid
    • batteries
    • waste oil
    • explosive material
    • medical waste
    • drugs
    • poisons
    • highly combustible material
    • paint
    • any other toxic or hazardous substance
  • Animal Carcasses.

The following appliances will NOT be accepted during Spring Cleanups:

  • Refrigerators
  • Washers
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Freezers
  • Furnaces
  • Air Conditioners
  • Stoves
  • Dryers
  • Microwaves
  • Water Heaters
  • Dishwashers

If your city does not have a cleanup day then consider renting a 10 cubic yard rolloff container. Ten yard containers hold 3-5 pickup loads of material, and they are perfect for spring cleanups and small remodel jobs. For more information call 262-4040 or check out our Rolloff Services.
